<What is "objectively"?> Objectivity would require stepping back from the intense hatred -- and that cuts both ways. There is so much hatred, so much blood, so much anger on both sides. You have always seemed to assume that I blame Israel, which is not the case. But I do think that Israel is part of the process if perpetuating a terrible situation. I think that Israel can explore new policy options that would be more effective that the ones that have been adopted so far. I also think that Israel and the US need a more honest relationship. Neither of these two views is meant to suggest that the problem is simply one of Israeli behavior -- far from it. But I do think that Israel could play a leading role in solving these festering problems. This is where the gap is in my view. If your next reply is consistent with previous posts, you might say that Israel is relatively innocent and simply defending itself against an adversary that is incapable of a civilized relationship. That is where I think you lose your objectivity. You don't need to convince me that Jews have been treated horribly and Israel is in a terrible situation -- that is obvious. What you need to show me is that you have not given up on peace, and have not given up on playing a leading role seeking both peace and security. That is what I would like to hear you telling us about.
