I'm not saying Israel didn't get some provocation. Which Israel over-reacted to, as Hizbollah expected.

I think that that was beginning to turn somewhat. One of the consequences of Iraq, I think. There was some sympathy for Israel after the kidnappings. It dissapated during the war. I think a really intelligent politician could get it back. But I don't know who that would be right now. It isn't Olmert. It certainly isn't Bibi. Maybe Tzipi? Ayalon? I don't know enough about them to know. It might also be that Iran's growing influence in Iraq and the region generally will scare Saudi Arabia enough for them to pressure other Sunni actors in the region to get something real done.

I can't say I see an endgame here though. I wish I did.
