As I understand it the Holocaust was a result of pure unadulterated racism, it wasn't driven by the Holocaust victims attempting to throw the Nazis out of land where the Nazis had lived for their entire lives

No, Elroy. This comes of a modern education where "evil" is a label on an empty box that has the word "Hitler" rattling around in it. You talk as if Hitler could come to power and succeed through some magic spell of pure racism, context free. Not so.

It wasn't just "pure" racism. It was political need. Hitler needed a scapegoat. The Jews were obvious, so were the Communists; he used both.

Germany had been destroyed. The flower of a generation gone in the trenches, the reparations of Versailles, the economy destroyed in hyperinflation and weak government, all the structure of pre-war society broken down. They needed a narrative to pull themselves themselves together. Hitler provided one, that was his magic. Someone to blame. Someone diabolic, wielding unseen power, sapping the Aryan soul. The Jews made easy scapegoats, the Germans had alway hated them (read Martin Luther), and their relative success sparked envy as well.

So Hitler constructed a winning narrative of Germany stabbed in the back and rose to power.

The Arabs too have been destroyed. Their rulers are corrupt and tyrannical, they have tried and failed with every bad political idea of the west. They have failed, while Asia and Israel have succeeded. Their young men and women have no hope but emigration. They too need a narrative, and the Islamists are providing one.

Stop obsessing over what happened to the Palestinians. Nobody cares but the Palestinians and (ironically) the Israelis. The Palestinians' bad situation has been arranged by their fellow Arabs, who don't give a rat's ass about their welfare. The Pals know it, and the Arabs know it too, & a glance at the last 60 years will prove it. Since it's not the reason but only the excuse, correcting it will not fix the situation.

Like I keep saying, step one in diplomacy is figuring out what each side REALLY wants.
