Foreign direct investment good for economy-Bernanke Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on Wednesday said increased foreign direct investment into the United States would be positive for the economy.

ELMAT: There will be more and more companies snapping up US juicy firms.

"In the future I think it is quite likely we will see more foreign direct investment coming from abroad," the Fed chief told members of the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee.

When we were doing this, didn't we say it was a good thing? :-)

[ NOTE: It can be. The US suckered the UK into putting large amounts of money into the companies that built most of its railroads. The Brits got stock. The roads went bankrupt. The Brits got essentially nothing, sometimes nothing. We got to keep the track and cars. :-) ]

Bernanke also said using the Social Security system and simplication of the U.S. tax code would provide incentives to encourage consumers to save more.
Uh, have you noticed every time the tax code is "simplified" your taxes go up? :-)

"One might consider using the existing Social Security system...possibly an add-on account whereby individuals had a chance through their payroll taxes to contribute to a independent account that would be in their name," he said.
The Democrats will DIE before that happens!

Bernanke also said the long list of savings programs and incentives in the U.S. tax code are often confusing and there might be some benefit to simplifying the savings programs in a way that people can understand better
The tax code? Confusing? :-)
Here ya go!

Have fun! :-)

Look, my wife does taxes. She lives off this confusion! CUT IT OUT!
