I don't know the future but what makes you think Sistani is not behind Al-Sadr.

Their philosophies and histories - more opposed than allied. Sistani has tried several times to reel Moqty in, with various levels of success.

When you see news of one the other is always mentioned and not as enemies.

They are rivals with opposing philosphies within the Shiite camp. This relationship can change to alliance or emnity and back again more than once.
