Kurds dont get any protection from sunni arabs as they are quite capable themselves. What they get is cover to assuage the turks and hopefully some good outcomes in kirkuk and mosul.

Re iran Who cares if they dont like a viable state on their borders. Are we here to kiss the ayotollahs ass or what? They get their pound of flesh with shiaa state in the south, capital Basra. Let them chew on that for awhile. They will have their hands full with arab/persian historical emnity
