Now they have to ensure that it is permanent and Intel doesn't revert when the spotlight is off.

Actually, now they have to stay in business long enough
for any of it to matter.

Before the ATI acquisition, they might have been able to
make a living as the low-cost producer. Now they have
so much debt that it's no longer possible. Without much
more competitive products and generally better execution,
it's difficult for me to see how they can make ends meet.
