There are differences between the old progressives and those who want to call themselves progressives now, so I'm not sure its the best word for them.

OTOH they are closer to the old progressives (IMO) then they are to the former meaning of liberal in most cases.

One of the main reasons I posted that to you was the part that said - "I have many friends who seem unable to comprehend, or at least believe, the idea that anyone might genuinely care enough about process to sanction a good process that produces bad outcomes."
