re: It just takes time. Microwave ovens, VCRs, DVRs, and now plasma TVs have all gone through the same kind of development.

Taking a lot of time... the first autos were electric.

For a second think about the $'s and infrastructure involved in oil/gasoline in this country. The pipelines, the refineries, the tankers, the gas stations, the gulf oil platforms... all that crap is endangered if EVs become successful. What's the infrastructure for an EV? An electric outlet in the garage and an extension cord.

Think of the oil company investments and huge profits. All that is endangered if EVs become successful. All those jobs and stockholders.

I'm not saying there is a conspiracy against EVs... but there sure is a huge industry with a vested interest in the status quo.

They have to be street legal, pass crash testing, and have scores of issues to deal with, but the main thing is getting the price down. It just takes time. Microwave ovens, VCRs, DVRs, and now plasma TVs have all gone through the same kind of development.

How come it didn't take the Japanese as long to come up with a hybrid? Its well noted that every step of the way foreign car companies have out innovated American car companies particularly when it comes to mileage. Why are you defending incompetence?
