Tom > Washington’s worst nightmare would be a loose Shiite alliance controlling most of the world’s oil and independent of the United States....Such a bloc, if it emerges, might even join the Asian Energy Security Grid and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), based in China.....If the Bush planners bring that about, they will have seriously undermined the U.S. position of power in the world.

That's what I expect to happen and, indeed, I believe history will show that the US' deliberate alienation of itself from the Islamic countries of the Mid East will turn out to be one of the biggest geopolitical blunders of all time.

And why? So that poor, little, harmless and defenceless Israel can keep the stolen Palestinian land which, in fact, it doesn't even need.

Iran's leader agrees to recognize and make peace with Israel.

No he didn't. He said something that appeared to mean something to someone. That's a far cry from "lets make peace with Israel"....
