"So is this a Republican talking point of the moment?" Not really. The specter of voter fraud was supposed to be the issue of 2006. It didn't quite work out because the reality of Republican corruption and sexual escapades trumped their plans. But Rove has been pushing this issue and the whole centralization of the US attorneys in DC. The whole DOJ has been perverted to express this issue. Which is why Gonzales has such strong backing. Not only is he the only hope of this administration, he is the only hope of a Republican success in 2008 beyond something like martial law.
