The Qur’an: A Book of Peace?

Whenever we are told the lie, “Islam means peace” (see my previous post, Islam Means Submission), we are also told, “Islam’s holy book, the Qur’an, is a book of peace.” Is it really? Less than a week after the tragedy of September 11, 2001, the most devastating attack on innocent Americans ever carried out by radical Muslims, President Bush shocked the nation with his opinion. I am going to quote just a few verses (ayahs) for you, and see if you come to the same conclusion.

Judge for yourselves: is the Qur’an really a book of peace? Print these up and put them in your back pockets and purses, so that the very next time you hear someone say, “Islam means peace,” or “the Qur’an is a book of peace,” you can give them an education.

“Believers! Retaliation is decreed for you in (the case of) bloodshed…” The Qur’an, 2:178 (Al-Baqara, 178)

“Fight for the sake of Allah those who fight against you…and slay them wherever you find them. Drive them out of the places from which they drove you… And fight them until there is no more tumult or oppression, and justice and faith in Allah prevails…” The Qur’an, 2:190-193 (Al-Baqara, 190-193)

“The Lord inspired the angels (saying): ‘…I will put terror in the hearts of unbelievers. Strike off their heads. Strike off their finger-tips!‘ This is because they opposed Allah and His messenger (Muhammed).” The Qur’an, 8:12-13 (Al-Anfal, 12-13)

“Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and Allah’s religion shall reign supreme.” The Qur’an, 8:40 (Al-Anfal, 40)

“Rouse the faithful to arms! If there are twenty steadfast men among you, they shall vanquish two-hundred; and if there are a hundred, they shall rout a thousand unbelievers…” The Qur’an, 8:65,68 (Al-Anfal, 65,68)

“Do not befriend [hypocrites] until they have fled their homes for the cause of Allah; but if they turn back, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them…” The Qur’an, 4:89 (An-Nisa, 89)

“Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you.” The Qur’an, 9:123 (At-Tawba, 123)

“When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield, strike off their heads and, when you have laid them low, bind your captives firmly.” The Qur’an, 47:4 (Muhammed, 4)

“Fighting is obligatory for you, much as you dislike it.” The Qur’an, 2:216 (Al-Baqara, 216)

“When the sacred months are over, slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them; besiege them; and lie in ambush everywhere for them…” The Qur’an, 9:5 (At-Tawba, 5)

Again, you be the judge. These are just a few examples. Print them up and put them in your back pockets and purses, so that the very next time you hear someone say, “Islam means peace,” or “the Qur’an is a book of peace,” you will be prepared to back up your response. If you see someone in the media say it, write them, and educate them. If they’re so politically correct that they refuse to address violence in the Qur’an, ask them not to talk about it all! Again, we have no right to complain about false information in the media unless we are willing to do something about it.
