You must be young. Most of the current generation of SS folks have contributed their entire working lives to this fund. There's NOTHING free about it. Think what kind of interest they could have had if FDR hadn't mandated it be taken from their pockets....and compound it each month for the last 45 or so years..... There is NO such thing as a "free lunch" unless of course, you are on welfare and/or the dole -- know how to game the system so you can get food stamps, beer, and sit in the park and have someone else pay your bills for you.
