I looked at the film quite closely and saw no sign of explosive based demolition on any of the steel and intermediate support parts that were visible. It does look like an unusual design for the US. Kinda like an old wood truss bridge design, but done in steel. Plenty of truss bridges have failed. If they were pouring a new concrete surface, a full concrete truck or two along with several fast moving 18 wheel trucks and some cars may have exceeded the rated capacity. The speed of the vehicles is a very important but often overlooked factor. The faster a vehicle is traveling when it gets on a bridge the heavier it seems to the bridge.
