Virginia is just like any other state. Some are tremendous and some not so. Remember that Virginia's Republican Party was non-existent for many years------the ten years leading up to Reagan's election changed that along with the Reagan Revolution. The Virginia General Assembly gradually went Republican as the young idealistic generation of that period was angry about the lack of support for the Vietnam men and women, the high inflation, the oil crisis---gas rationing, mortgage rates at 16%. Allen made one gaff in speech, not politically correct, according to the word police------Webb's campaign and the main stream media and various organizations opposed to Allen came down like vultures on this comment. I truly believe Allen did not know the origin of the word. People did not know the word------like moi, I had to look the word up on the internet. Webb won my a slim margin as a result. This is not dissimilar to what is happening to Obama-----Obama is making gaff's that he later has to explain. and, Hilary's campaign is presently reaping the benefits. mj
