An Iranian here told the H1B visas quota for the year was finished in ONE DAY!!! That's because the applications are queued for many months before: en.wikipedia.org He'd probably have a better chance if he was Indian, then: en.wikipedia.org And then there is: en.wikipedia.org or en.wikipedia.org Of course someone can just pay an unemployed US tech worker to marry them... :-) "Cough" Not that I have ever been offered such an opportunity (as I look over my shoulder for ICE..) en.wikipedia.org Many pathways to the US.

Huge numbers of Iranian professionals are in the US on political asylum. Over 100,000. I think many Iranians still have their bags packed , ready to move back to Iran, as soon as the regime changes. Many Filipinos have have family connections to the US. There's no reason the US should just let in anyone on an H1-B. We should be getting the top 2/3 or better, and controling numbers. The benefits of the US economy belong to US citizens, not to the rest of the world. Much of the rest of the world can continue lecturing the US about how money & work obsessed the US population is, how little job security, etc. They can have their 35 hour week.
