The 35W bridge always, always looked cheap. And, the arch was so flat compared to every other river bridge in the area. I never understood it. If you look at the beautiful bridge they built at Hennepin Ave -- which carries far less and much slower traffic -- it just did not seem to make any sense. But then you think that even though the bridge is ugly in a metrodome way, it must be structurally sound. But I guess not. Just an incredible tragedy.
