On the other hand, the divide between Sunni and Shia, however and whenever it started, has become much more political than religious. It's really just about power now. Not sure about that.. Sunnis of the fundamental variety out of Saudi Arabia (founders and financiers) are not getting the kind of scrutiny they deserve because last 30 years a lot of what has happened can be placed at their doorstep as far as spread of intolerant strain in a lot of places.. Keep in mind also Shias are only 10 to 15% of the total muslims world wide so except for place like Iraq and Iran and handful of other smaller countries, don't have much power as such.. en.wikipedia.org
