Name That Party: SF Don Surber blog My new San Francisco bureau reported that in May, state Sen. Carol Migden hit a guardrail on Interstate 80 and later rear-ended a car on Highway 12. She has finally been charged. In a 230-word story, reporter Marisa Lagos of the San Francisco Chronicle mentioned that she has been on chemotherapy for leukemia, mentioned that she has voluntarily given up driving since, and even quoted her. Everything you could possibly want to know about the senator, the accident and the misdemeanor charge that is about to be brought against her was included in that story. Everything except her political party affiliation. So is she: A) a Democrat, or, B) a Democrat? blogs.dailymail.com sfgate.com

Name That Party: DisneyWorld Don Surber My Florida bureau chief went to DisneyWorld. He must have won the Super Bowl or something. Anyway, while down there, he picked up an Orlando Sentinel and read a story about state Rep. Bob Allen: “Attorney: Allen won’t resign in sex case,” who was duly identified as Republican, as he should be. A few days earlier, there was a story about state Sen. Gary Siplin: “Siplin ethics probe continues.” His party was not identified. Is Siplin a Democrat or a Democrat?
