That is an example of how having good fundamentals is perhaps not as important as public perception.

Say rather its an example of how divorced perception can be from fundamentals.

The difference is that a company that is performing decently but is unloved by the market is rarely destroyed by the market's disdain; but history is littered with examples of leaders who pulled defeat out of the jaws of victory due to losing their nerve due to bad perceptions.
