Merv at prariepundit DOES have a wicked sense of humor, doesn't he? Congress is scheduled to go out on its August recess tonight, and unless Democrats Russell Feingold (D-WI), Carl Levin (D-MI) and Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) suffer a moment of lucidity, the boys and girls will go off on their holiday without fixing FISA. Those three....moment of lucidity????? That WILL be the day, won't it?

Wonder how Feingold, Levin, and Rockefeller can sleep at night. Don't they understand that we need every possible tool at our disposal to thwart these mad terrorists. The Congress will recess. These people will go home to their homestates or to a vacation spot---Feingold to Wisconsin, Levins to Michigan; Rockefeller to West Virginia-----without giving us the necessary tools. Wonder how they would feel and react if there were a successful attempt to wipe out the Capitol or a major miitary facility because they did not give us the authority to intercept the communications of the terrorists------because they failed to act? "In Washington, we know now that since April, American intelligence gatherers have missed some or all of the e-mails and telephone calls going overseas to suspect terrorists or coming into the US from them because of a classified decision of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court.
