DALLAS — Prosecutors have shown a jury evidence that leaders of a local Muslim charity were outraged by Israel's treatment of Palestinians.. and had financial dealings with a man whom the U.S. government would later call a terrorist...

Federal prosecutors used wiretapped phone calls and videos seized in police raids to slowly build their case that officials of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development raised millions for Hamas terrorists.

Five men are charged with helping finance a terrorist group, conspiracy and money laundering. Authorities say some of the charity's money helped support the families of suicide bombers. ...

Holy Land was the largest Muslim charity in the United States when federal agents shut it down in December 2001. President Bush personally announced that its assets had been seized.

The main witness in the first six days of testimony, FBI agent Lara Burns...Burns identified Holy Land officials and Hamas leaders in some of the videos. One of the defendants is seen singing songs praising Hamas and the Intifada, the Palestinians' 1987 uprising against the Israeli military occupation of Gaza and the West Bank.

Burns testified that Holy Land gave money to radical Muslim groups...

The indictment charges the Holy Land officials with using these transactions to launder money from Hamas... jurors heard from an academic who has studied the financing of terrorism and from a Virginia man who said he found tapes of pro-Hamas speeches in the back yard of a home he bought from a folk bandmate of another defendant....On one of the tapes, a Muslim Brotherhood leader implored Muslims in North America to do their part in "a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within."
