If the oil co.'s were spending money on exploration like they used to instead of on share buybacks, they may have had a better political argument, but maybe not. Hard to justify risky explo with the Canadian sandbox a stone's throw away.

The Dems like to demonize the oil co.'s and recent profits set them up like bowling pins.

Bush may veto. He doesn't care, he's a sitting duck.
