Despite terrific profit growth, the oil co's are saddled with miserable p/e ratios I think b/c of the formerly cyclical price of oil. The only cycle I see now is one going straight up, with shorter and smaller dips down.

The recessionary risk also definitely affects them, and I think that this is for obvious reasons a siginificant risk at present. But recessions come and go.

We are in the middle of a superspike period for oil and indeed at the beginning of a superspike period for most commodities, metals and agriculturals included. I think this is the principal economic theme for the next decade. Latch onto it on a maintenance free LTBH basis for a few years, and you will prosper mightily.
