I think we have already lost the battle with academia. Those in the teaching world who seek to provide a quality and unbiased education are being overwhelmed by the do-gooder and union oriented academic.

If we are lucky, the media might be a different story because of the exponential power of the internet.

However, liberal democrats will suck the life out of the internet through some mechanism like a Fairness Doctrine if given the chance.

The fundamental problem we have in the USA today is a lack of interest in issues that require some independent thinking.

The average voter knows more about "Britney, Lindsey and Paris" than they do about terrorism or incompetent politicians.

They know more about Oprah, Barry Bonds, Beckham and Tom Cruise than they know about what drives the price of gasoline at the pump.

IMO, we live in a "New York minute" and "sound bite" world.
