There have been interesting studies done on eating and behavior- it does seem to make a difference for all students.

I remember one particularly interesting test case, a school for behavior problems, that saw a complete change in the behavior of the student body with better quality food.

I certainly feel much different when I eat crappy food than when I eat good food- don't you? I feel excellent when I eat my normal healthy diet, but if I spend a day or two eating garbage foods, I start to feel pretty tired and cranky. I imagine if you ate garbage all the time you wouldn't be as ready to learn as someone getting all the nutrition they need, and not yoyoing on sugar highs and lows.
