Either way, we'll see this confirmed or refuted when actual reviews appear from the mass media. For now, I would look at it as a good sign that Wolfdale may vastly decreases power consumption relative to Conroe, while offering better than expected benefits to IPC. It's a win/win for Intel on 45nm, and it won't be long before these parts show up and start ramping. The only other question remains core frequency, and based on other indications, that's looking positive, too.

"Measured from the power supply" implies they are measuring current on the 12v CPU power connector. It does not imply "measured at the A/C mains connection," which is what they would have said if it was system power.

If they measured A/C power, the power meter would have to be six feet away from the PS! And they would be measuring power going to to the PS, not from it.
