Do you have a Whole Foods near you? Sometimes I feel a bit faint at the prices in the produce section, but my goodness, once you taste the stuff- it's like going back to my childhood, when we pretty much ate things season by season, and grapes had that amazing grapey taste, instead of just being sweet and cold and sort of rubbery. They'll let you sample the stuff there, and they'll cut it up for you- so munch your way through the produce section before shelling out the big bucks for the fruit.

FWIW- I get our very best food at the SF farmer's market. Fresh fruit trucked in as fresh as fresh can be, Amazing food! I had the best white raspberries last summer. Have not gone as much this summer, but just knowing the quality is out there makes me feel a little better. At least I know it still exists, even if I am sometimes too tired to drive out there to get it.
