I'm going to guess that selling the SPSN shares will reduce AMD
losses slightly. Don't they still have enough shares that they have
to include a fraction of SPSN's losses in their income statement?
Doesn't that mean that their income statement improves when
their SPSN holdings go below that threshold?

And I doubt that SPSN stock is on the books at the public offering
price. I'll guess that it's at SPSN book value. There's a reasonably
good chance that even at $9.50 per share, AMD will get more than
book, so the transaction will show up as a one-time profit.

The above is just an educated guess, however . . . .
