Brumar89;

You have a good understanding of Afghanistan, I respect that a lot. Your comments are very valid based on real conditions and are unusual in that they give me cause to think.

As good as your understanding is, there still seems to me that you are missing a desire to understand their culture. The interactions between the Taliban and any one of the large number of tribal factions is very complicated. Their society just isn't like ours - not even close. Just who are you supporting when you say...."non-Taliban army and government"? The country is extremely splintered with weird loyalties and alliances that we haven't even started to understand.

As to opium; Aren't you afraid the huge monies gained from this illicit crop will end up in the bad guys hands?

Brumar,

Afghanistan is not at risk. The Dem candidates want to leave Iraq and finish the job in Afghanistan. Now - if you believe that - Dems never lie - the future of Afghanistan is secure.
