There is no inherent profitability connected to either fruits or vegetables versus processed sweetened cereals per se.

On the same aisle one can buy Capn Crunch or Fruity Pebbles, one can buy oatmeal or whole wheat cereal. I don't think the healthier choices are necessarily more expensive. I think fruit juice is probably cheaper than what starbucks sells. And pretty comparable to colas for that matter.

Just did some online price checking. For the price of a 13.75 oz bag of potato chips you can get 2 lbs of apples or 5 lbs of bananas. 1 lb of boneless skinless chicken breasts are about a buck cheaper than a digiorno frozen pizza.

People don't eat unhealthy because economics forces them to.
