BNP Paribas blocks investors from withdraws in three of its hedge funds due to the uncertainty of the value of the assets in the funds?

"The markets' volatility of the past few weeks has taken a toll on many widely known funds for sophisticated investors, notably a once-highflying hedge fund at Wall Street's Goldman Sachs Group Inc."

Even GS hedge funds incur losses in July and YTD? I wonder what value they placed on their CDO’s to come up with the 8% loss in July?

My guess is we’re about to see a dramatic withdraw of equity from hedge funds in general due mostly to the uncertainty of the values. Last one out gets the CDO's.

For every dollar of withdraws, the funds will most likely need to sell 10 dollars of assets and in some cases the proceeds will be used to sell USD and buy Yen to pay off cheep loans in Japan.

How many more hedge funds need to close their doors before the panic sets in???

When you see commodities like oil and gold decline and the Yen increase it will be the start of the exit to a smaller and smaller exit window.

As a wise man once said, Tick tock tick tock :-)
