So, do you want to use Bosnia as a model? We're still there after 10-15 years....

If I was president, I would clearly state what our mission was there and share with the American people what we need to accomplish before we could leave.

Clinton stood up and promised that American troops we stay in Bosnia for no more than 18 months. Perhaps this is the model of behavior Steve wants the President to emulate?

KLP;

You have got to be kidding me! You want to compare the success the world has seen in Bosnia with W's escapades? Did you read the link I provided yesterday as to what Karzai had to say about how things were going in Afghanistan? Is it your wish to throw the entire American treasury away in the ME?

A better comparison would be the first Gulf War under Bush 1. It was thought out in advance, the mission was defined, we accomplished the Mission and then we got out.

Meanwhile, Bush continues to stick his finger in the eye of Iran (not at all unrelated if you read todays news of what Karzai said). While we squander our treasury in Iraq, China - without the idealogy hangups of the neocons - makes deals for Iranian oil and increases trade with Iran. Imports (oil) from Iran were up 40 cent - compared to a year ago.
