Did Richard Nixon win in a landslide in 1960?

Well, what happened with Joe Lieberman was that he got re-elected to the Senate. He was able to appeal to "centrist" voters from both parties that realized his "experience and gravitas" was preferable to a "one trick pony" candidate that was running one only ONE issue.

SO...I think you may be right about the Obama/Clinton scenario playing out just the way that the Lieberman scenario did.

"Gore should have won in a landslide"...Well he DID win the popular vote and he probably WOULD have won in a landslide if he hadn't worked so hard to DISTANCE himself from the Clinton Administration. Gore should have won going away based on facts and platforms, but the guy was a TOTAL dweeb and ran an absurdly lousy campaign.
