China has a short border with Pakistan, and generally supports Pakistan so that it can be maintained as a counter-weight, a drag, on the military and economic power of China's regional rival India. (However --- unlike what China tolerates or even encourages in Pakistan, i.e. Islamic Extremists being based there and attacking from Pak. territory against Americans and Afghans in Afghanistan, and Indians in Kashmir and other parts of India --- China actually represses Islamic fundamentalism and Islamic political movements very brutally in it's OWN territories.)
