Pathologists are very seldom on the scene unless there's a murder at a coroner's convention. All I know is that the pathologists looked at the wounds and called for a criminal investigation. There wasn't one, but there was a "cover story" which was promulgated by everybody up to the President. As far as the kid next to Tillman answering ALL the concerns, I don't think so. That kid has said he had his head down praying and I really get the feeling that he wasn't your typical "battle hardened" Vet.
