Glad to see you are broadening your horizons with travel. We have a great expedition lined up for you to see the bottom of a gold mine in the far north. We need some cash to dewater the workings, so bring a wallet with some replicas of deceased presidents therein. Right now we are short of fuel for the genset.

Me pops had the same idea. Once at the funeral of my grandmother he declared loudly for all to hear, "19 cents would have bought a cement block and a piece of wire. Tie it to her leg and we could have thrown the old bat in the lake. Would have had enough left over for us to all get plastered for a week." No doubt some of us would have had to ...

He always said that was the kind of funeral he wanted. Him being always the nautical man, we were to take his body out to the middle of the lake, tie the cement block to his ankle and give him the old heave-ho. He was cheated. He had a regular funeral and half the town lined up to pay their respects by spitting on his grave. (That is a custom in these parts as I understand it.) I wish I had the guts to throw him in the lake. He would be happy now.
