The state doesn't have enough money because their highway funds are used for light rail projects and other bullshit. Of course they won't stop those so the money can go to bridges and because after a disaster it's easy to convince the masses that the only way fix this problem is with a permanent tax hike so of course that is the route traveled by every good politician on either side of the aisle.

there's plenty of money for highways, it's just that all the monies collected for roads goes into the general fund and the pols give that out in entitlements. You don't get votes for fixing bridges
