One small incident--We visited a state park over the wkend for a walk. It was crawling with Mexicans. That's fine, if they're legal, but it was obvious they're not. My husband is 6'4" and was wearing a polo shirt with an inscription and a baseball cap. He was given many very nervous furtive glances...probably concerned he was the park ranger or ICE.

They work in a nearby urban area and are well informed by their employers of any and all tax funded freebies like state parks. We approached a nervous looking group of people surrounding a man and my husband said to me "what is he holding?" As we passed we observed it was an iguana...we live in the mid-atlantic region. The only place we've ever seen a live iguana was on a cruise to Cabo san Lucas. As we passed I said "iguana" to the man, and he replied with a heavy spanish accent "they're falling out of the trees around here." Evidently he expected me to ask "where did it come from?" We know where it came from, Mexico of course. Hopefully that type of wildlife brought across the border without inspection, does not carry diseases that could spread to the local species. The owner had better get the iguana a heavy coat for Winter...it often dips 10degrees below 0 around here.

Of course, the illegal humans also enter the US without a physical exam--our immigrant ancestors were given a clean bill of health before entering the country. In addition, they were sponsored by a citizen who guaranteed they would make certain the newly arrived immigrant had shelter and a job.
