Dr. Robert Mundell is 100% right. The governing elite faced Balkanization circa 1977 and went for spreading of export processing zones to the whole country. Else? Yugoslavia styel breakdown.

Only the rest of the world took 23 years (from 1979 to 2002) to discover what the impacted would be for the rest fo the world.

The saying "Boo!" and the guys running to under the beds only work actually to rich countries GCC: Saudi and those Emirates down here. Or perhaps Eastern Europeans afraid fo the option Russia.

Latin America the US can say Boo until they get tired no one would fear them. Look to Fidel Castro!

Of course, but what happens after Bush? We had a strong US dollar policy with Bill Clinton and Robert Rubin. It will be interesting to see if the next administration can or will shift back in that direction.
