... but it has always been the case that the rest of the world underestimates the will and capacity of Americans to get something done when the entire population is actively and forcefully behind the endeavor.


That thought has crossed my mind more than once even with the sorry state of so many things in the US... and the article also had me thinking about that Donald Trump quote when he owes billions.

No guarantees about the future... other than they'll be "interesting" times.

Than most who?

Most Americans are barely aware of China, unless they happen to look at the labels in the clothes they just bought. To judge from many statements made in the U. S. Congress, many of our Representatives and even some of our Senators consider China a marginal entity that is somehow taking advantage of the U. S. One even reads statements that China ought to be grateful to the U. S. for allowing China to led us money--that we are doing them a favor by letting them buy our Treasury bonds.

I think that a lot fewer than 1% of Americans have any conception of the mess.
