What you call socialism, I call a cooperative welfare state where the weak and injured are helped by the stong and healthy and where society protects those unable to protect themselves and the land for future generations.. Stampgirl: "The problem with CA is not enough land is in private hands. When the property is yours, every day is Earth Day." Yes, when the property is yours evey day is surely like earth day Stampgirl: But what if you do not own the property?; or have not lived there all your life, so you do not know anyone. Try finding wild places, to walk and explore, from the Bay Area which are not public land. And there is very little public land around the Bay Area. My relatives own lots of land near Paso Robles (Adelaide). Beautiful land near San Simion. All of the land owners in the area work together to patrol the land like an armed camp. YOu better not take a walk on any of their land. And do not even bother to ask them. stampgirl: "The concept of stewardship comes to mind. Different world views I imagine." How about public stewardship? Stampgirl: "There are plenty of open areas to walk in, you just have to ask. My husband and I have found land owners to be the most accommodating people we've met, even when the sign says "No Trespassing". We hunt, fish and backpack almost anywhere we've taken the time to get to know the land owners. Hard to get to know anyone if you do not live there. Where I live in alaska, I do not live my life by anothers leave. I can hike for thousands of miles and never see a fence, or a no trespassing sign. And I do not have to ask anyone for permission. Cheers,
