TreasuryDirect lockup - just discovered my TreasuryDirect Tbills are subject to a *45 day* lockup! I'm glad I didn't buy any more of them. I wanted to purchase them and transfer them to IB as collateral for short sales, only to discover that they're going to be locked up until early September! So the collateral I thought I had - I don't have. Talk about a learning curve.

So two questions:

1. anybody know if there's any way around this with Treasury Direct?
2. outside of Treasury Direct, what's a good, cheap way to buy Tbills?
