It doesn't matter. SilentZ was talking national average numbers which would include both the chronically sick and the healthy who never go to a doctor.

I've read that in most other countries, people go to the doctor on average once every six months; we're the only industrialized country where people go less frequently than once per year.

During 2001, an estimated 880.5 million visits were made to physicians' offices in the United States, an average of 3.1 visits per person.

How many were repeat visits by chronically sick people?

Wow. I need to be going to an MD more often......if only my health plan would pay for it.
