My take is that almost everyone is unreasonable. As mentioned, I can never figure out how we got as civilized as we have-lol.

When I ran for the state legislature once, I was so happy I lost because I would have hated being in the legislature.

By the end of the campaign it was clear to me very few people listen to other peoples ideas or change their minds on subjects in which they believe. I felt like I was the only one trying to look at both sides of the issues. And that is a very lonely feeling-lol.

How many pro mining liberals (dictionary liberals-lol) do you think there are-lol?

I have great respect for how important good jobs are. I have had to work hard all my life and I have been broke many times.

Good jobs are very important, but avoiding sweatshops like those that existed in the 1700/1800's and early 1900's is also important. It is a balancing act with few people being resonable-lol.

I think given human nature the balance of large companies/corporations and unions to protect the worker was a good one all in all. Since the destruction of unions, the rich have gotten richer and the poor poorer, workers are losing their pensions and medical benefits they worked their whole life for. All a corporation (like steel mills, airlines, etc) have to do is file for bankrupsty. The CEO's leave with huge bonuses and the workers are left pennyless.

There has to be countervailing forces between large companies (capitalism) and workers. A good read of Charles Dickens makes my point. Society has to engage oversight to ensure fairness.

Pure laissez fair just doesn't work.

IMO-lol.
