Re: What are you talking about? You have not even bothered to check newegg prices, have you? The 7/22/2006 $186 1.86 GHz C2D 6300 is now replaced by 2.13 GHz C2D 6420. What is it, 15% improvement in 380 days?

Are you forgetting something??

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6550 - Retail - $178.99

Re: The new 1333 FSB parts are a bit cheaper, but that's compensated by their very poor motherboard selection and the relatively high prices of good mobos for them.

Here are 3 P35 motherboards (supports 1333 bus) under $100:

Here are 4 G33 motherboards (supports 1333 bus) under $100:

Here are 2 more with nVidia 650i chipset (supports 1333), all under $100:

Seems like ample choice and price point to me.

I don't think so. I think it's replaced by the $183 E6750 at 2.66Ghz.

Are you trying to tell me that 1.86Ghz ==> 2.66Ghz at the same
price point in about a year isn't a rapid change?

Any motherboard issues will be resolved very quickly. These parts are
going to sell in large quantities.
