So, basically what he said was: 1) Stop assimilation (stop the 'Melting Pot' effect), and 2) Trash the public education system (offer a low-quality educational outcome for the masses). Aye, that would probably do it (destroy America's preeminence in the world....) But there are numerous other ways to 'destroy America', too. Such as: 3) Continue to expand the size and intrusiveness of government, and the continual budget deficits that it produces (destroy the dollar and the economy). 4) Continue with our massively over complex and convoluted, special interest loophole-ridden tax code, never reform or simplify our corrupted tax system (destroy productivity and the economic future). 5) Continue to wastefully over-extent ourselves overseas (engaging in the ill-advised 'foreign adventures and entanglements' that our founding fathers warned so stridently about!) Continue going into huge debt and then pouring out that cash in the desert sands of various motley regions, ignoring all considerations of 'is the candle worth it?'), all cost/effectiveness considerations, all considerations of Opportunity Cost (while our commercial competitors are all focused like laser beams on Opportunity Cost, steadily eating our lunch....)

History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. Dick Lamm might want to investigate Switzerland before repeating this claim. There are multiple languages in common use there. Most citizens speak two or more languages. In the North East they all speak German as one of them, In the West Swiss all seem to speak French, In the South East they all seem to speak Italian. Then of course there is Romansh. reference.com
