This may be the case. At any rate, if the 3.0GHz QC Xeon @ 120W isn't here today, it will be here soon.

That page has useful information:

Tigerton launching on Sep 3. (Xeon MP)

Merom 2.6GHz (non-extreme) on Sep 2, implying also Merom 2.8GHz extreme at that time. (Apple is using this as an iMac option now)
What was that about Intel not making mobile progress? :)

And as you mentioned, QC 3GHz Xeon at normal TDP on Aug 12.
