For the benefit of all of you who may wish to short indexes via ETFs in tax-protected/retirement accounts, I found a bunch of them which appear to fit the bill. Two of these are 2x leveraged. Check these out: finance.google.com finance.yahoo.com finance.yahoo.com Best of all, they appear OK in self-directed IRAs. quantinvestor.blogspot.com Wish I had known of them before the meltdown, but I think they're OK still as IMO the worst is yet to come. A poor man's hedge fund.
