(I think he was saying, sub rosa, the word "OIL".... The only problem with that argument is that, in alternate places that we might get to occupy, there is no getting to KEEP the oil anymore, to OWN it. Unlike earlier episodes in historical time, preexisting the end of Colonialism. Oil, being sold into a global market today, gets supplied to the market regardless. And, regardless of that fond after-memory from history that tells us 'occupy it and it's your's', in today's world there is no such payoff.)

Nope...I did not say it was right.....IMO, once the policy decision is made to send our troops into battle we should all get behind the CIC....I think the criticism leading up to that decision is part of the process in any democratic nation....however, I saw no US naitonal interest involved in that part of the world...it seemed a European issue between left to those who reside in that part of the world...so it was wrong to bash and intemperately Clinton once our guys were in the field...and it is wrong to intemperately criticize Bush in the same manner.
